The members of the Greenville Township Fire & Rescue Department shall strive to protect the lives and property of the citizens of the Town of Greenville through fire suppression services, pre fire planning, and public education. We will serve this community to the best of our abilities and training. We are committed to continuously improving our understanding of the properties of fire and the fire prevention needs of our residents, the community of Greenville, the surrounding communities, and the state of New York.
Greenville Receives Another Grant

Recently the GTFRD received a grant for a new Breathing Air Compressor and Thermal Imaging Camera, along with funding for training members in the use of Thermal Imaging Cameras. This brings to a total of nearly one million dollars acquired through grants over the last six years by the Town of Greenville Fire District and GTFRD. During this timeframe, we have been able to upgrade our communications equipment to state of the art P25 equipment. We have replaced, thanks to grant funding, our old 6x6 brush vehicle with a much safer GMC 5500 Crew Cab with 500 gallons of water and foam firefighting capabilities. Nearly all of the equipment on our new Heavy Rescue was acquired through Grant Funding, including, but not limited to our Hydraulic Rescue Tools, which are the finest the industry has to offer today. Your Greenville Fire Department is one of the best equipped and highest trained departments in Orange County and the State of New York.

Hurricane Irene

Hurricane Irene kept the GTFRD busy for about 48 hours. Members responded to nearly 50 calls for assistance during that timeframe. These calls ranged from Mutual Aid with our boat to the City of Middletown to basement pumpouts to numerous trees on wire calls. Members staffed the firehouse to allow for immediate response to any incident. In the City of Middletown, GTFRD members working with the MFD and Middletown DPW safely removed approximately 50 people trapped by flood waters. Unfortunately our boat was damaged to the point where it will have to be replaced.
